Beautiful Word Devotional #334
I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers.
PHILEMON V. 4
In this short letter to Philemon, Paul and Timothy tell Philemon something we all like to hear: they are grateful for him, and they are praying for him. It’s always nice to hear those two things from a friend or relative. So how about “doing unto others” today?
Who in your life could use some encouragement? Will you email, call, send a text, or handwrite a note telling them that you appreciate them and/or that you’re praying for them? Everyone can benefit from hearing that!
When you do encourage your friends and family members, be specific about why you appreciate them. What has she done to inspire you in your faith? How has his faith after he lost his job encouraged you? What character traits are praiseworthy? What thoughtful gesture do you still remember? Write out a prayer—or leave a prayer in a voice mail.
Being specific about our appreciation and praying for someone we care about are gifts that nourish a heart.
Lord, please show me whom to encourage today and who needs to know I’m praying for them, amen.
