Rejoice in the Lord!
Philippians 3:1
Throughout his letter to the Philippian believers, the apostle Paul wrote about joy and rejoicing. That theme reflects his passion for them—that they would begin to live out the joy that Jesus demonstrated when he walked this earth.
Rejoicing doesn’t come naturally to us. We tend to see the world through the lens of pessimism, and if too many hard and sad things happen at once, they darken our mood and silence our joy.
But Paul reminded us that joy is a choice. No matter where you find yourself today—in the midst of a too-busy life, navigating difficult relationships, worried about finances, burdened by children’s decisions—you can choose joy. Sound impossible? Ask Jesus to help you. He would love to reorient your perspective and give you a heart of gratitude.
So today instead of recounting your worries, choose joy by counting the many blessings God has brought your way. He loves to open your eyes to hope in him, and he will help you see the goodness all around you.
Lord, I choose joy today, and I am going to start by counting at least ten blessings right now, amen.
