Beautiful Word Devotional #291
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Deuteronomy 6:5
We are to love God with all that we are, with all of our will, all of our minds, all of our emotions, and all of our physical power. We are to bow the knee and our heart to the King of kings and hold back nothing when we worship him.
David worshipped like that. Aptly called a man after God’s own heart, he lavishly loved God. Yes, David sometimes strayed terribly and sinned greatly. Still, he loved his God.
Similarly, Peter promised he’d never forsake the Lord, but not long after, he denied even knowing Jesus. Still, he chose to return to Jesus and follow him.
And all of us are like David and Peter. All of us have the opportunity to continuously love God. And all of us get off track. We’ll disappoint our Lord when we choose to sin. But because he is gracious, we can always be once again people after God’s own heart.
Don’t let your personal failures and shame prevent you from loving God with all you are.
Lord, teach me to love you faithfully and with all that I am, amen.
