Beautiful Word Devotional #290

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22–23

This statement of faith comes in the midst of the struggling prophet’s lamentations. What an example for us!

No matter what we are going through, we can take heart in the truths of these two verses. First, God greatly loves you. No matter what trials you’re facing today, they will not swallow you up. People will fail you; your compassionate God will not. Ever. God’s goodness toward us—his compassions—greet us every morning.

There’s something else about a fresh, new morning. As the sun sets, we might be keenly aware of regrets, disappointments, and people’s hurtful ways. Our tiredness at night can make all this overwhelming and every situation seem impossible.

But with the morning sun, you can find yourself rested, renewed, and feeling hopeful and encouraged. God may not change the circumstances, but with the sunrise he gives a fresh perspective on his power, love, and faithfulness.

Lord, thank you for reminding me of your faithfulness with every sunrise, amen.
