Beautiful Word Devotional #283

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Mark 16:15

Before ascending into heaven and before giving the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the resurrected Jesus gave these instructions to the disciples. And imagine the fear the disciples must have felt as Jesus assigned them the impossible task of telling the entire world about him.

Thankfully, not long after Jesus spoke these words, the disciples received divine power. And when the Holy Spirit empowered the disciples, they couldn’t help but share the gospel. It was a natural outflowing of their changed heart, Spirit-fueled passion, and Spirit-guided words.

Like the disciples may have felt, we may find it scary to share Jesus with others, but like the first disciples, we also have the Holy Spirit, who enables us to do the impossible. If you get nervous before talking to people about Jesus, simply ask the Spirit to give you the courage you need and the words the person needs to hear. He loves to answer that prayer because he loves to welcome people into his kingdom.

Lord, please show me one person today who needs the gospel—and then enable me to share it clearly, amen.
