Beautiful Word Devotional #189

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Psalm 34:7

Whatever your theory about who the angel of the Lord is (some say Jesus; others say a powerful messenger sent by God; others say God the Father appearing briefly in human form), the truth remains that this angel protects those who fear God. And, according to this verse, the angel also delivers God-fearers from whatever holds them captive.

What a beautiful picture for us! When we fear God—when we revere, worship, and submit to him—he promises to be near us, to be right where we live. Whatever problems we may face, he has promised deliverance.

What are you facing today? Whatever you face right now, you have the privilege of laying all these worries and burdens at God’s feet.

God promises to be near you and to walk with you through the trials. And in his perfect timing, he will bring the deliverance you need.

Lord, help me be aware that you are near me. Help me trust that you’re in the process of delivering me, amen.
