Beautiful Word Devotional #160

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Romans 7:15

Never do we put “Sin a lot” on our to-do list for the day. But often the very thing we hate to do, we end up doing. Why? You would think we Christ followers would have a handle on this business of sinning. Yet even with the strength of the Holy Spirit within us, we still sin.

Thankfully, there is hope. You can make strides toward walking in the power of the Spirit and escaping the sin cycle. And it involves simply this: talking to God throughout the day, having a continual conversation with him about everything you face, small and large.

Choosing to focus on God by interacting with him about everything might look like this: Help me love that person who is being rude. Give me strength to endure the next hour. I need help with my attitude. Thank you for providing for me. This continual conversation invites God into everything you do.

Lord, thank you for the privilege of having an internal monologue with you. May it keep me walking in the Spirit and avoiding sin, amen.
