Beautiful Word Devotional #16

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:34

Jesus knew that worrying about tomorrow serves no good purpose. You can’t know what the day will bring, and you most likely couldn’t change the circumstances if you did. All you can know is today, and that gives us plenty to think about and pray about and deal with and manage. So instead of letting your mind wander to tomorrow, assess your today:

Are you clothed?

Do you have food to eat?

Does God love you?

Is God providing for your needs?

If things today aren’t right, ask God to help you change what you can and then pray about those things you can’t. Tomorrow will come, and you can do the same thing then. But to worry needlessly about something unknown simply adds more stress to your life. That kind of worry doesn’t build your faith muscle, it distracts you from the present, and it interferes with your relationships. Don’t let tomorrow steal joy from today.

Lord, help me to see your blessings today. I will let them fuel my trust in you for tomorrow, amen.
