Beautiful Word Devotional #158

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

When the psalms were composed, physicians weren’t as accessible as they are today. If we get sick, we can get in our cars and drive down the road for help. But if you were injured back then, someone close to you had to care for your wounds. If you were completely heartbroken, you would turn to people nearby for comfort.

Isn’t it beautiful that the psalmist describes God as that kind of personal caregiver! He rescues us from the—literally and figuratively speaking—harsh elements of this world, acknowledges our broken heart, and—like the closest family member or friend—takes care of our wounds. .

You are the recipient of your heavenly Father’s great care. He sees you today. He knows what breaks your heart. He understands why you walk with a limp. He has sent his Spirit to comfort you every moment of every day. He longs to provide you with wound care and ultimately grant you healing. Will you allow him to do so?

Lord, I give to you my broken heart and my wounds. Please bring healing, in your perfect timing and for your glory, amen.
