Beautiful Word Devotional #145

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”

Mark 8:36

Money can buy temporary happiness in a variety of forms, but it cannot buy eternal life. Yet for many people in pursuit of the almighty dollar, eternity is not even on their minds. They focus their thoughts and their hearts on wealth. They are no longer serving God. As Jesus said, we human beings either serve God, or we serve money.

The enemy of our souls would like us to concentrate on the here and now, on what can make us happy, and money is a great tool for that short-term satisfaction. When we fall for Satan’s schemes, we easily forget that how we live here on earth matters for eternity.

So instead of pursuing the illusion of security that financial wealth offers, consider pursuing the eternal God who loves you and died for you. His love is far more valuable than a paycheck, gold jewelry, or the latest car. He alone grants salvation, gives lasting peace, and brings unshakeable joy. When we truly follow him, we’ll have no need to chase anything else.

Lord, I want to serve you, not money. I want to trust you to provide for me, not be enslaved by mammon, amen.
