The Peace of Christmas, Part 2

If you think about it, most sports teams get good news only in the off-season. Their good news comes to them based on circumstances like trades, the signing of free agents, and draft picks. Throughout the season, most of their news is bad—injured players, conflict in the front office, disgruntled fans, and ending the season with a loss. If sports teams felt peace only when they received good news in the off-season, they’d be in a lot of trouble the rest of the year. Instead, most teams continue to focus on the end goal, no matter what their present circumstances.

The peace of the Bible helps us focus on the end goal no matter what our present circumstances may be. You see, the peace of Christ is always available and ever increasing. Isaiah 9:7 states, “His government and its peace will never end.”

When we as believers know that God’s grace and peace are not bound, we ought to always be experiencing his peace flowing through our lives. But the problem is that we don’t often know that we can have it in ample supply.

So how do we access his peace? The answer is easy. Simply ask for it. That is what we see in Philippians 4:6-7. It states, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Do you need peace? Just do what this Scripture says and ask. When you experience his unmistakable peace, you can keep moving forward no matter what the season.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
