Sidelined Because Of Injury
Sidelined because of Injury
At rookie minicamp, Dante Fowler Jr., the number-three overall draft pick in the 2015 NFL draft, tore his ACL in his very first practice. How devastating it could have been for him, his team, and his financial future! You see, he didn’t yet have a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars but instead had an agreement of a contract range if he were to get injured before signing.
Life can be so unpredictable, can’t it? We like to think that we are in control. We feel as if we can dictate all that will take place in our lives, so we work hard for our future. We should be working hard for our future, but we must recognize our limits, because none of us knows what tomorrow holds.
As a matter of fact, there are so many reminders of our lack of control that we would be wise to look to the Lord of all and yield our spirit of control to him. In Matthew 6:25 and 33, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? . . . Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
Our life is a journey as stewards. I want to challenge you as a fellow steward of talent that God has bestowed upon us, to trust the Lord for your future and steward well what is before you. Go give it your best today, and trust that he is in control.
