Setting And Achieving Goals

Setting and Achieving Goals

The number of people who lack a strong sense of purpose is astounding. They have few goals and no plan of execution for the ones they do have. Jim Rohn said, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”

Goals are a natural part of our growth process. They help us stay focused, give us a sense of accomplishment, and help give us direction in life.

There are a few things to consider when it comes to setting and achieving goals. One, make sure your goals align with God’s purpose for your life. Two, know that all goals come with the possibility of failure. It is here that we ask God for faith to live without fear and to move us to the next level. As we take these steps, we will start to see the plans God has for us come about. The third thing I know is that accomplishing anything of significance takes longer to achieve and requires more effort than was ever estimated. Accomplishing something great takes tenacity as well as talent.

But here is an encouraging word for you about the details of your life and the goals that you have that will honor God. Psalm 37:23 states, “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”

If we are trusting God with our goals, he promises to make our steps firm. As a matter of fact, seeing us rule, reign, and exert dominion in his image brings him great delight. Keep at that goal you’ve set, and do it for the glory of God.

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
