In The Front Of The Line

In the Front of the Line

Did you know you are in the front of a line? In an episode of his weekly audio challenge, “Monday Morning Cup of Inspiration,” Dr. Kevin Elko challenged his listeners to consider this metaphor. He stated, “If the world were represented metaphorically, and one hundred people stood for the entire population of the world with the most blessed at the front of the line, and the ones starving to death and not making it through the day in the back of the line, everyone hearing this message would be at the very front of the line, probably even first.”

Elko went on to challenge his listeners to do something with what they have been given. The apostle Paul does the very same thing in his letter to the Ephesians.

Fundamental to the Christian life is the calling to live our lives with purpose, because God has placed us here on the earth with a purpose. The apostle told the believers in Ephesus, “We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10). It is safe to conclude that we have not been saved to sit, but saved to serve.

So what are you doing with your prestigious position in the front of the line? Unfortunately, many people found at the front of the line are found complaining. Yet, as Elko said, “We should all realize that we should stop complaining, because God put us in the front of the line to take care of the back of the line.” Now that’s living with real purpose.

We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10
