Getting Fit
Getting Fit
Did you know that May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month? That means it’s time to get fit. Your health and fitness can be two of your biggest assets or worst liabilities. They will affect how you interact with your family, how you perform at work, and how you enjoy your overall life.
Having vision for your life isn’t just a matter of spiritual principles or applications. Having vision for your life entails thinking long term and making practical changes along the way to get to your destination. Pat Williams, an executive with the Orlando Magic, has a goal to live to be one hundred years old and write two hundred books in his lifetime. To do this he exercises an hour each day and eats right. He has survived cancer, has run many marathons, and is striving toward writing those books every single day.
Today is an opportunity to make progress. Ephesians 5:15-17 states, “Be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”
What goals are you hoping to accomplish that require you to be healthy and fit? How are you training your body so that you can be present for the big moments in your life and your children’s lives? Get moving in the right direction, and seek to be fit in every area of your life.
Be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
