From Cloudiness to Clarity

One of the biggest challenges a man faces is knowing whether to stay or to go—to launch out on his own or to stay with the corporate gig. In those still, quiet moments, many a man wonders, What if . . . ? How do you know when it is time to stay or time to go? Scripture gives us many principles for movement.

Proverbs 14:8 says, “The prudent understand where they are going, but fools deceive themselves.” You may be in the midst of cloudiness regarding your decision. I describe cloudiness as knowing that you need to go but not yet knowing where. If this is where you are, don’t launch out yet, but begin to seek clarity. Clarity is understanding clearly and then launching out from there with a good plan.

Proverbs 19:2 tells us, “Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.” Patiently journeying with God while seeking his leadership will direct you to a clear path—not only for your job but for your marriage, your money, your parenting, and your mission.

Your journey with God will produce wisdom for making decisions as you walk with him day by day. Bible teacher Beth Moore said, “Wisdom is knowledge applied. Head knowledge is useless on the battlefield. Knowledge stamped on the heart makes one wise.” Wisdom calls for a diligent pursuit of carefully assessing where you have been, where you are, and where you are going. As you seek God’s wisdom for your life, take your time, and journey from cloudiness to clarity.
