Worship

worship - Why is worshiping God important?

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.

Romans 11:33-36

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.

Psalm 95:6-7

You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.

Revelation 4:11

HAVE YOU EVER experienced incredible joy yet still felt like there was something missing? Maybe it was a beautiful sunset, your child’s first belly laugh, or the wedding of a close friend. All of these events call for a response from us. Our joy in something is made complete only when we give praise and glory to the one who gave it to us. This is worship. Dallas Willard writes in The Spirit of the Disciplines, “In worship we engage ourselves with, dwell upon, and express the greatness, beauty, and goodness of God.” We can do this anytime and anywhere. Take time to reflect on God’s beauty in the world and his goodness in your life, and respond to him with worship.
