Will Of God

will of God - How can I discover God’s will for my life?

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:6

The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.

Psalm 25:10

My child, listen to what I say. . . . Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go.

Proverbs 2:1, 9

ANYONE WHO BELIEVES in God has probably asked, “What is God’s will for my life?” Sometimes “God’s will” seems so vague; however, God has already revealed his general will for all believers in his Word. The Bible has dozens of clear commands for us to follow: worship God only, love our neighbors and our enemies, tell the truth, do not covet, do not steal, be sexually pure, remain faithful, teach our children spiritual truths, don’t gossip, don’t use God’s name disrespectfully, read his Word regularly, don’t let money control us, let the Holy Spirit control our lives. In addition to God’s general will, he also created each person for a specific purpose, and he calls us to certain tasks. It is usually through steady obedience to his general will that we find specific direction for our lives. At the end of your life, it won’t matter what job you had or where you lived. The only thing that will truly matter is whether you have been faithful to God and lived a full life of loving him and others.

Prayer Prompts

If I follow your commands, your Word promises me that . . .
