When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.

THE BIBLE MENTIONS many wealthy people who loved God (such as Abraham, David, Joseph of Arimathea, and Lydia) while saying nothing negative about the amount of wealth they had. Scripture doesn’t focus on how much money we have, but rather on what we do with it. Those who have been given much wealth in this world have greater responsibility and higher standards for sharing with others and taking care of the poor. Jesus made one thing clear: Wherever our money goes, our hearts will follow after it. So work hard and succeed without guilt, but make sure to work just as hard at finding ways to please God with your money. Keep an eternal perspective so your master will say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
