Time
time - I want to spend more time with God, but I’m too busy. How can I better manage my time?
Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.
Psalm 90:12
I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.
Psalm 119:147
IT IS EASY to fill our days, both with things that matter and things that don’t. If we feel like we don’t have time to spend with God, we might need a shift in perspective. Every person is given the same twenty-four hours in a day. The issue is really what we do with the time we have been given. Yes, we must work, sleep, take care of children, and uphold our responsibilities. And yet, spending time with God often feels less important than many other things in life. What if we viewed time with God not as an option but as a necessity? When we take time to sit with God in silence, to prayerfully read his Word and listen for his voice, it changes the way we live. We are able to see clearly which tasks are important and which ones we should let go. We are better able to love others because we have taken time to experience God’s love for us. When something causes you to talk yourself out of spending time with God, remember that nothing is more important than being with your Creator.
