Spiritual Warfare

spiritual warfare - Are there really spiritual enemies—powers of darkness—trying to harm me?

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

John 10:10

We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12

Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

SATAN, OUR SPIRITUAL ENEMY, is alive and active, working every day to steer our hearts away from God through pain, pleasure, or pride. Satan’s goal is to keep us isolated from God and to drown us in misery, darkness, and despair. Whether or not we are aware of it, a spiritual battle is going on over our souls right now. Our allegiance to God puts us in the middle of the battle because we are threats to Satan’s plans. Although spiritual warfare is scary, God commands us to live courageously because of Jesus’ death, resurrection, and victory on the cross. We can stand firm in the Lord and in his mighty power because the Bible promises he is greater than the enemy. Whenever you feel overwhelmed or defeated by the evil one, remember that the story is not over yet. No matter what trials or sorrows Satan brings your way on earth, God has already overcome the world.
