Sharing

sharing - How can I develop a more generous spirit?

You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Acts 20:35

I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 1:4

May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.

Colossians 1:11-12

They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem.

2 Corinthians 8:4

ALMOST EVERYONE has been taught since early childhood to share, yet for many people it feels incredibly difficult. Why? Because at the core of sinful human nature is the desire to get, not give; to accumulate, not relinquish; to look out for ourselves, not others. The Bible calls us to share many things—our resources, faith, love, time, talents, and money. Many things are more enjoyable when we share them with others, and doing so benefits them far more than we may realize. We are called to share because God gives so generously to us. Sharing is an expression of our love for God, demonstrated in our love for others. As we use our special gifts and resources for others, we pass on God’s blessings. Those who generously share discover that the benefits of giving are far greater than the temporary satisfaction of receiving.

Prayer Prompts
