Relationship
relationship - What does a relationship with God actually look like?
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.
Psalm 23:6
Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.”
Jeremiah 31:3
When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the LORD God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the LORD God among the trees. Then the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
Genesis 3:8-9
ADAM AND EVE disobeyed God and rebelled against God. And yet the first thing God did after they sinned was pursue them to restore their relationship. Although Adam and Eve would have to experience the consequences of their actions, God had no intention of severing his connection with them. It’s hard to imagine this kind of unconditional love, which pursues us no matter what we have done. When we do wrong, or when we reject God, he does not give up on us but rather pursues us for the purpose of forgiving us and restoring us to a right relationship with him. This is the very essence of why you were created—to be in relationship with God and to experience his goodness, presence, and unfailing love. God’s faithful pursuit is a beautiful call to friendship with him.
