Prayer
prayer - How do I talk to God?
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. . . . If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
Matthew 7:7, 11
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.
Ephesians 6:18
PRAYER IS NOT just about telling God what our needs are. It is engaging with the ever-present Christ in all our moments. Talking with him includes praising and thanking him, confessing our sins, making requests, expressing pain and frustration, or simply sharing what is happening in our lives. Good conversation also includes listening, so we need to allow time for God to speak back to us. God often does as much in our hearts through our act of praying as he does in actually answering our prayers. Prayer softens our hearts, gives us wisdom and direction, turns our worry into peace, and helps us tune in to the very heart of God. God always welcomes you with open arms into his presence. Every time you talk to God, remember that you are forming and deepening the most important relationship you will ever have.
