Place

place - Why do certain places help me feel closer to God?

I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

Revelation 21:1-4

There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?

John 14:1-2

CERTAIN PLACES are special because they offer glimpses of our eternal home. The glory of the old Jerusalem gave believers a glimpse of the new Jerusalem in heaven. The beauty of this earth, genuine love between friends or family members, and places of rest and renewal are all tastes of the beauty, love, and joy we will experience in heaven. Whether your special place is a local park bench or your living-room chair, God has provided it for you as a gift. Thank God for giving you glimpses of heaven during your time on earth, and allow your special place to encourage you to look forward to your future with him.
