Loss
loss - How can I deal with loss in my life?
“Where have you put him?” [Jesus] asked them. They told him, “Lord, come and see.” Then Jesus wept. The people who were standing nearby said, “See how much he loved him!”
John 11:34-36
Job stood up and tore his robe in grief [and said,] “The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away.”
Job 1:20-21
The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Lamentations 3:19-23
LOSS ALWAYS brings pain. Expressing that pain is not wrong or sinful; rather, it is a healthy expression of how God created us. Jesus’ tears over the death of Lazarus forever validate our tears of grief. Whether we have lost a loved one, a job, a friendship, or a dream, we must allow ourselves the necessary time to grieve The process should not be denied or hurried. You may find that birthdays, holidays, certain aromas, or special places bring the grief back up. But each time you allow yourself to grieve, it will help you move toward acceptance. Those who don’t know God grieve alone and without hope. However, those who know God face loss with hope and the assurance of his love. No matter what loss you’re facing, take comfort in knowing that one day you will be with God in heaven, where all grief will be gone forever.
