God’s timing - How can I patiently wait for God’s timing?

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. . . . Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.

ALMOST EVERYONE hates to wait. Even trivial delays like red lights or slow cashier lines can make us edgy, and more serious delays can provoke serious anger. We can be especially frustrated when it feels like we are waiting in line for God to do something for us, even though the right answer to our prayers seems obvious. It’s hard to accept when God’s timing is different from ours, and even harder to accept that his timing is best for us. We want what we think is right, and we want it now. Waiting can feel like a waste of time. But what if there is more happening during seasons of waiting than we are aware of? Waiting places us in the perfect position to grow strong in character, in persistent prayer, and in patient confidence in God’s promises for our lives. If you are in a season where God’s timing is different from your own, use it as an opportunity to grow. As the old saying goes, “God is rarely early, but he’s never late.” Remind yourself continually of God’s faithfulness. He is actively working in your life to help you become all he made you to be.
