DIGNITY is the quality of worth and significance that every human being has because we are created in the image of God. Dignity has two angles: recognizing our own worth before God and recognizing that same worth in others. Unfortunately, it is human nature to rank others from important to insignificant. But a proper view of dignity motivates us to see others as God sees them—worthy of our love and respect no matter how they live or what they do. If you struggle with self-worth, remind yourself that you can walk with dignity because of how highly you are esteemed by God. When you see yourself and others as reflections of God’s image, you can’t help but recognize dignity.
