Contentment
contentment - What is the key to contentment in life?
Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
Psalm 90:14
I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:11-13
Each time [God] said, “My grace is all you need.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
CONTENTMENT is among life’s most elusive qualities. The answer to the question “How much is enough?” always seems to be “Just a little bit more.” Our deepest contentment and joy come not from pursuing happiness, pleasure, or material possessions but from pursuing intimacy with God. When we depend on material wealth, it means we’re trying to build our own security, which always leaves us craving more. The more we crave, the less satisfied we will be. But God has promised that he is sufficient. The Bible teaches that human beings are most fully satisfied when they experience God’s unfailing love. Do you believe this? Let go of finding fulfillment in “things,” and instead receive true peace and contentment, which only come from being in relationship with God.
