Betrayal

betrayal - What can I do when I feel the pain of betrayal?

“The mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the LORD, who has mercy on you.

Isaiah 54:10

Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:44-45

Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

1 Peter 3:9

It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.

John 13:2

BETRAYAL has the power to make us feel unwanted, unloved, and even defective. Its sting can last a lifetime if we allow it to. Taking the high road after being betrayed is not an easy path—but it is one that leads toward God’s blessings. God promises that when we choose to bless others rather than retaliate, he will bless and reward us in return. When betrayal has caused you to focus on your flaws and doubt all your good qualities, remember that God will never reject you. Come to him with your pain, remembering that Jesus knows exactly what it feels like to be rejected by someone close. Ask for his help to respond well, trusting that he will keep his promises to bless, defend, and comfort you.
