A prayer when in Conflict

When I face a difficult conflict

O Lord,

I need help resolving a conflict. Neither side wants to budge, but I know that someone must make the first move. Let it be me. Teach me humility, that I might prefer peace over personal victory. Give me the discernment to know where to compromise, to locate common ground that is greater than our differences, and to give up ground for no reason other than love. If neither I nor my friend is willing to take the initiative to accomplish a resolution, I’m afraid this conflict will result in a broken relationship. And what are we really fighting over? Mostly our pride. Lord, you are the great peacemaker. Please lead us to peace. And like you, may I be willing to give up my rights to gain the right to be called a peacemaker.

You have heard the law that says, “Love your neighbor” and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:43-45
