A prayer of Honesty

When I feel like taking shortcuts

Lord,

I know that my honesty matters to you because it reveals my character. If I’m in the habit of cheating in little things, I’ll have a hard time being honest when bigger challenges with bigger stakes come my way. It doesn’t matter if no one else is watching—God, you are. Even if no one else knows, you know. You see my true character, which is revealed in those moments when I think no one is looking. If my honesty can’t be trusted in a small matter, it can’t be trusted in a big matter. Lord, I want to build my life with the bricks of honesty so I will have a strong foundation of integrity when challenges come my way. Let my life be governed by your standards of fairness and justice. May I be trustworthy even in the small things.

Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the LORD’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. Psalm 24:3-5
