A Prayer Of Acceptance

A prayer of Acceptance

When it’s hard to accept others

Dear God,

You accept me no matter what—despite the times I’ve hurt you, ignored you, or rejected you. You call me to accept others the same way you do. Just as you first accept me wherever I am in life and then challenge me to change and grow, so I must accept others before I try to influence them. Help me to remember that acceptance isn’t about befriending the best or most godly people. Rather, acceptance is about letting you break through my fears, inhibitions, and stereotypes to bring out the best in the people around me. God, empower me also to respond to your call to accept those the world deems unacceptable—the poor, the homeless, the handicapped, the elderly, prisoners, and addicts. Please work through me, Lord.

Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory. Romans 15:7
