A prayer for Wisdom

When I wonder where to find wisdom

Dear God,

I’d like to think I’m an intelligent person, but I still face situations in life that I don’t have the wisdom to navigate. I’m learning that success in relationships, fulfillment of my life’s purpose, and spiritual maturity are often more dependent on wisdom than on intellect. Wisdom is what transforms head knowledge into discernment. Your Word says that wisdom grows out of knowledge of you and respect for your commands. God, please reveal your wisdom to me through your Word. Forgive the pride I take in my own mental abilities, and help me not to rely on my own intelligence. Your Word tells me that only those with humble and teachable hearts who are committed to steady obedience will absorb the wisdom found in you. I want to do that, Lord! Help me to remember that wisdom is less about knowing facts and more about knowing you.

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. Proverbs 9:10
