A prayer for my Enemies

When I need God’s supernatural power to love my enemies

Dear loving Father,

Showing love to my enemies seems completely unreasonable—until I realize that I was once your enemy, and then you forgave me. Help me to see my enemies as you see them—as people in need of grace and forgiveness. May I feel compassion for them; may I extend love and mercy and forgiveness, as you have done for me.

You have heard the law that says, “Love your neighbor” and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! Matthew 5:43-44
