A prayer for the Heart

When I need to guard my heart

O Lord,

I know that whatever I do springs from the condition of my heart. An act of kindness doesn’t come from an evil heart, and generosity doesn’t spring from a stingy heart. Please stand guard at the door of my heart. Don’t allow wrong thoughts and desires to sneak in and set up house. I know I can’t trust myself to keep my heart clean, but I can trust your Word, because it comes from your heart, which is good and perfect.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23
