A Prayer For My Neighbors

A prayer for my Neighbors

When I want to reach out to others

Dear Jesus,

I tend to think of my neighbors as the people who live next door or across the street. But your teachings expand my neighborhood to involve anyone around me who needs your love and care. This means that the people next to me on a plane, my coworkers, or the homeless in my town are also my neighbors. Not only that, but my neighborhood really should expand to people around the world who need your love. Teach me to think about the people I meet or hear about as my neighbors so I can treat them as you would if you were still walking on this earth. Jesus, what neighbors will come across my path today? Don’t let me miss these encounters as divine moments that allow me to share your love.

“Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked. The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.” Luke 10:36-37
