A prayer for Holiness

When I long to be more holy before God

Lord of heaven and earth,

My desire is to be holy. To be holy is to be sinless, pure, and perfect before you. I cannot accomplish that in my present body, but I can work toward that goal until I reach my final destination. Someday I will stand before you, cleansed and forgiven, in heaven. But for now, I can try to renounce sin each day. Part of holiness means to be set apart, different—to live as you want me to live and not how the world assumes I should live. May I long for your smile more than the world’s approval. Please bless my desire to be holy on my earthly journey. May I one day arrive at my final destination and stand, redeemed and completely holy, before you.

I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. Romans 12:1
