A prayer for Grace

When I mourn over the sin in my life

O Lord,

Whenever I sin I lose so much—my intimate relationship with you, a keen knowledge of your plan for me, the Holy Spirit’s empowerment to live the Christian life, wholeness within myself and in my relationships, and the ability to be a pure and effective witness. I am filled with grief because I am mourning all that my sin has caused me to lose. May my sorrow lead me to bow at your feet and ask you for forgiveness, for I know you will give it if I ask with a sincere heart. And then may I accept your promise to wipe the slate clean. Lord, may your mercy increase my desire to follow you so that my life can testify to your ability to transform a sinner into one of your saints.
