A prayer for Communication

When I want to increase the lines of communication with God

Dear Lord,

With all the means of communication I have at my fingertips—cell phone, Internet, e-mail—I am reminded about the importance of communicating with you. But how do I keep in touch with you? Sometimes I wish it were as easy as calling you on the phone. If keeping in touch is vital to the success of my interpersonal relationships, it goes without saying that the same principle applies to my relationship with you. What are the tools I need to communicate with you? First, I can carve out more time just to talk to you, and to listen. That’s what I’m doing now through prayer. Second, I can read your Word—your book of communication to me. Third, I know that you also speak to me through other people who are close to you. I guess I do have lots of communication tools at my fingertips. Lord, please show me how to better use them. I want to stay in touch with you and experience a breakthrough in my spiritual life.
