A prayer about Testing

Does God test the quality of my faith?

Heavenly Father,

I wish it weren’t so, but I know that my character and spiritual commitment are tested by the fires of hardship and suffering. Please give me the wisdom to clearly distinguish between temptation, which Satan uses to lead me into sin, and testing, which you use to purify me and move me toward spiritual maturity. Out of testing comes a more committed faith. Just as many products are tested so that their performance can be strengthened, so also you test my faith to strengthen me and make me more like you. When my faith is being tested, may I realize you are working out something important in me so that my relationship with you, and service to you, might be more significant.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4
