A prayer about Success

When I need a better definition of success

My Lord and friend,

If I were to reach the end of life having managed a successful business, raised a nice family, won all kinds of community awards, and retired comfortably, would you say my life had been a success? No, if I did all those things apart from you, I believe you would say my life had been a failure. Failure in your eyes is not living the way you created me to live—in other words, not living in relationship with you. If I died today, would you say I had done that? My greatest failure would be to reject you, because apart from you, nothing will ultimately last. Please don’t allow me to fail by neglecting or ignoring you, O loving Father. You know the secret to successful life; you created it! Therefore I will fail if I go against you and try to find my own path. But I will succeed if I discover what a relationship with you now means for all eternity. Please guide me toward that success, Lord.
