A prayer about Self-esteem

When insecurity keeps me from seeing my worth in God’s eyes

Dear Jesus,

I wrestle with insecurity. It’s a part of my old sinful self that I must overcome. I can’t seem to find a means to measure my worth that isn’t prideful or self-debasing. I end up thinking either more highly or more poorly of myself than I should. Jesus, since you are my creator, I should look to you for an honest appraisal of my worth. In your Word, you tell me that I am valuable to you—your masterpiece. You love me deeply, and my sufficiency is in you alone. The world I live in begs me to measure my worth against its standards and to compare myself to worthless things. Please give me spiritual sight to discern when this is happening and to resist it. Instead, help me to remember that my self-esteem should be tied to the value you place on me and the purpose for which you created me. Knowing this one thing gives me hope that I can overcome my insecurities: Because I have your power within me, I am capable of doing far more than I could ever dare to dream. Thank you, Lord!
