A prayer about Love

When I need to see love in perspective

O Lord Jesus,

If I get anything right in this life, help me to get love right. I want to love you and others with the unconditional love you model for me. Too often I think of love as just a feeling. I know that’s part of it, but according to your Word, it’s so much more than that. You show me that it is a commitment. Jesus, please help me to remember that love is not dependent on warm feelings alone but on a consistent and courageous decision to extend myself for the well-being of someone else. You perfectly demonstrated your unconditional love when you made the loving commitment to lay down your life to save me and all people from our sins. When I love you with all my heart, soul, and strength, I am making a commitment to develop a relationship with you, the Creator of the universe. Thank you that you loved me first and daily pursue me with your love.

The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16
