A prayer about Eternal Life

When I need the hope of eternal life to affect my life right now

Dear God,

Your Word says that you have planted eternity in the human heart. I believe that every person, deep down, knows there is more beyond this life. Something we were made for is still missing. Because I am created in your image, I know I have eternal value. Help me to focus on things that will last forever—my relationships with you and others, my acts of service, and my words of encouragement and counsel. You have created me with a restless yearning for the kind of perfect world that can only be found in heaven. But today I can do my part to try to model the kind of life you have promised I will enjoy forever. Thank you for the glimpses of heaven you allow me to see each day through nature, art, a smile, or an act of love. Someday you will restore earth, and eternity will be a never-ending exploration of its beauty in a perfect relationship with you. But now, through my obedience to you and love for you, I can put myself in a position to enjoy life the way it is meant to be enjoyed. My relationships can be more faithful, my life can model integrity, and my conscience can be clear. May the people I come into contact with today notice the eternity you have planted in me and desire it.
