A Prayer About Doubt
A prayer about Doubt
Can God use me, even when I doubt myself?
Dear God,
I can relate to Moses when you called him to deliver the Israelites from Egypt. He was certain he could not do what you were asking. The task was too big, and he was scared, unprepared, and full of doubt. This is how I feel right now—frightened to death, totally unprepared, and doubtful that you’ve called the right person. But the story of Moses gives me hope because it shows that you work through humble hearts that depend on you. Like Moses, I have a realistic picture of my limitations and abilities. I know I can’t do this job by my own skill. I have two choices: walk away, or let you work through me. I want to follow in Moses’ footsteps. May I have courage when the task ahead of me seems too big. When I doubt my ability to see it through, may I persevere in the knowledge that where you call, you provide. Lord, I’m totally depending on you. I’m frightened, unequipped, and doubtful . . . but I’m willing. I trust you to work through me.
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Isaiah 40:29
