A prayer about Desires

When I need insight into my own desires

Lord God,

I need discernment. There is something I want, and I just can’t stop thinking about it. I don’t know if what I desire is good or bad, but it is constantly in my thoughts. I’m feeling so confused. Please, meet me in this moment with the insight I need. You know all things, even the deep recesses of my heart. You know what the long-term outcome of my choice will be. O God, please shine your light on this desire. If it is wrong, expose it for the foolishness that it is. But if my motives are pure, then affirm me in my spirit. Either way, I need to be at peace with you! You are my counselor and my friend. I trust that you will show me the truth about what I desire.

The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them. Psalm 145:18-19
