A Prayer About Circumstances
A prayer about Circumstances
When I’ve let my troubles rob me of my joy
Dear God,
I need a change of perspective. Please teach me to focus less on my troubles and more on the joy, peace, and incredible future that come from a relationship with you. Your Word says that I can have joy despite my troubles. This means that I can always respond joyfully to you, the one who offers me the eternal gift of salvation. The more I wallow in the difficulty of unpleasant circumstances, the more they drag me under. But the more I reach out to you, the more you can lift me up. Lift me up, God! Lift up my thoughts. I pray as David prayed: “Restore to me the joy of your salvation” (Psalm 51:12).
Though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He makes me as sure-footed as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. Habakkuk 3:17-19
