A prayer about Accomplishments

When I want to know my accomplishments are pleasing to God

Heavenly Father,

Sometimes I assume that accomplishing great things is the way to become spiritually great. If I am honest, I am often driven to impress others or to gain their respect, applause, or approval. Striving for these things can easily transfer to my relationship with you, God, leaving me thinking that I have to earn your love and forgiveness too. But your Word tells me that I am accepted because of your grace, not because of what I do. God, you accepted me from the start, before I had accomplished anything. It’s true that I have been created, called, and equipped to accomplish certain things for you. But my achievements are always to be understood as the result of your grace in me, not of my own efforts. The greatest success is allowing you to carry out your plans through me. Help me to let go of my need to be accepted because of my performance. Instead, may I accomplish those things that will highlight your power at work in me.

We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
