A Prayer About Time
A prayer about Time
When I need help managing my time
Lord God,
I never feel as if I have enough time to do the things I need to do. I’m pulled in so many directions—home, family, job, volunteer work, church—and it’s hard for me to prioritize. I feel overwhelmed, and I need your help! Only you can set my priorities straight. Teach me that the best way to find the time I need is to devote more time to you. Only then will I know more clearly what you want me to do; only then will I understand your priorities for me. O Lord, just as you commanded the Israelites to set aside the Sabbath for rest, you ask me to set aside time for you. May I never look on this as a burden but as your way of freeing me from the exhaustion that comes from my constant striving to do everything I feel I need to do. As I rest in you, clear my vision and help me to focus on what is important to you. Then everything else will fall in place.
Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. . . . For in six days the LORD made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy. Exodus 20:8-11
